Grace Mackey was born January 21, 1924 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Cornelius (Pickle) Beal and Katie J. Beal.
Preceding her in death were her husband Raymond Mackey, Sr., her mother and father, and sons William Adkins, Sr. and Scipio Cowan, Sr.
Grace Mackey accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a young child. She was a member of Wilson Chapel C.M.E. for 92 years! During those years she sang in the choir, was a Mother of the Church, a Stewardess and was the Church Treasurer for many years. Mother Mackey was very faithful and supportive of every new Pastor that came to Wilson Chapel and to the ministry. She will be remembered for always having a smile on her face and for the encouraging words she would always give. She loved music and loved to hear the choir sing! If there was music being played Mother Mackey would always come in dancing! She will truly be missed by the entire Wilson Chapel Church Family.
Later on in life Grace met Raymond (Mutt) Mackey, Sr., and that is when 2 families were joined together full of love and togetherness and became one! Raymond was her husband, companion and best friend of 27 years until his passing, August 12, 1994.
Grace Mackey was a woman of the highest character and she was clothed with strength and dignity. She spoke with wisdom and kindness, and faithful instruction was on her tongue. She watched over the affairs of her household and did not eat the bread of idleness. Her family rise up and call her Blessed! She was truly a Proverbs Woman. “Pr. 31:25-28”.
Grace Mackey graduated from Redbird High School in 1942. She worked as a domestic worker for many years. Her hobbies were fishing, going to rodeos, traveling, and she loved music; she was a true fan of Gospel Artist Mary-Mary. Her favorite color was red.
Grace Mackey was known for her love for her husband, children, grandchildren, entire family, and her church family and friends. She had a love for people and she was also known for her great cooking! She will surely be missed!

Words from Mother Grace speaking to daughter Mary on November 1, 2018. Mary asked, “Mom is there anything else I can get you? Do You Need Anything?” Mother Grace thought for a moment, then said “No, I’m Saved! So that’s all I need.” Then in a soft voice Mother Grace started singing, “Yes Jesus Loves Me!” She was singing to her daughter Jan, “Amazing Grace.”
