Bill Fewel “B.F.” Carter, age 73, resident of Coweta, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 5, 2026.
B.F. was born on August 15, 1952, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Billy Hugh "Bill" Carter and Betty Sue (Fewel) Carter. He was raised in Coweta, attended Coweta Public Schools, graduated from Coweta High School with the Class of 1970, and attended Oklahoma State University and Okmulgee Tech.
B.F. and Anita Sue (Churchwell) Carter were married and shared 20 wonderful years together. Their marriage was built on love, devotion, and a deep commitment to one another, creating a life centered on family, hard work, and countless cherished memories.
Known to nearly everyone simply as B.F. or B, he was a hardworking man whose hands built both his livelihood and his legacy. A lifelong farmer, B.F. devoted his life to raising soybeans, wheat, corn, and cattle, a way of life that remained at the heart of who he was. In 1972, he opened B's Boot Shop, where his handcrafted custom boots became well known throughout the area for their exceptional quality and craftsmanship. As his career continued, B.F. went on to own and operate a sand plant and later a fertilizer company, all while continuing to farm. He also spent years in the trucking industry, believing in the value of honest work and taking great pride in providing for his family.
B.F. enjoyed working on big trucks, crafting leather goods, and making boots by hand. Whether he was in the field, in the shop, or spending time with family and friends, he found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was known for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, generous heart, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed it. His life reflected integrity, humility, and a deep love for those around him.
B.F. is survived by his loving wife, Anita Sue Carter of the home in Coweta, Oklahoma; his daughter, Delia Carter Griffith and husband Jeremy of Coweta, Oklahoma; his son, Ted Carter and wife Mikki of Coweta, Oklahoma; his stepdaughters, Joi Horan and husband Daniel of Chicago, Illinois, and Candice Churchill of Leominster, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Cordelia Griffith, Brayden Carter, and Hank Griffith; his step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Horan, Joshua Horan, and Atalie Opal Churchill; his brother, Mack Carter of Coweta, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
B.F. was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Hugh Carter and Betty Sue Carter.
Though B.F.'s hands have been laid to rest, the fields he cultivated, the boots he crafted, and the lives he touched will remain a lasting testament to a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and lived with purpose. His legacy will continue through his family, the lessons he passed on, and the countless memories shared by those who were blessed to know him.
