Billy Charles “Bill” Akins, age 72, resident of Coweta departed this life on Thursday morning, July 15,2021 at his home in Coweta, Oklahoma surrounded by his loved family. Bill was born on April 14, 1949 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Billy Gene and Mary Frances (Owens) Akins. Bill served in the United States Marine Corps. He married the love of his life, Mary Louise Jones on June 23, 1994. Bill owned and operated Indian Springs DX Station for many years until he retired in 1996. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, and spending time outdoors. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 226 in Coweta, Oklahoma.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Angela Cooper of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Kelly Tennyson of Grand Prairie, Texas; six grandchildren, Cassidy Pyles, Cole Pyles, Courtney Pyles, Robert Tennyson, Tyler Tennyson, and Jordan Tennyson; two step-daughters, Tammie Elliott and Scott Faircloth of Nashville, TN and Leanne Pyles and husband Richard of Jenks, Oklahoma; his siblings, June Knight, Gary Akins and wife Connie, Eva Jean Fields and husband Larry, Elaine Akins, Marsha Young, Darlene Bates, Rosie Riffle, and Melton Akins; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Allen Akins; his wife, Mary Louise Akins; and his parents, Billy Gene and Mary Frances Akins.
A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma.
