Carol Thiessen Geabhart

April 30, 1943 — February 24, 2026

Broken Arrow

Carol Geabhart, 82, passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2026. Born April 30, 1943, she was a spirited adventurer living in many states, but always proud of her Kansas “farm girl” roots and carried that strong work ethic throughout her life.

Carol worked as a beautician for 53 years, building lasting friendships with her clients. She was married to her husband, Kenneth Geabhart, for 59 years until his passing in November 2024.

In the 1960s, as a young Air Force wife, Carol moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, where Kenneth was stationed. At a time when few chose that path, she embraced the experience. Her time in Alaska resulted in many stories of adventure that she loved to share over the years. In their early married years, they enjoyed camping, boating, scuba diving, and traveling in a small Cessna airplane piloted by Kenneth.

In 1978, they moved to Claremore, Oklahoma, where they raised their daughters. Carol served as a Brownie leader and made family celebrations, especially birthdays, meaningful for her girls. She was known by family and friends as sassy and fun-loving, bringing humor and personality to everyday life. In 1990, she and Kenneth returned to Kansas to open a business together. After their daughters were grown, they were active in prison ministry through the Christian Motorcycle Association. In retirement, they moved back to Oklahoma to be closer to their grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Laura Hanoch and husband Heath, and Leslie Youngker and husband Randal; her grandchildren, Hayden and Taylor Hanoch, Brady and Brooke Youngker; and her siblings, Joyce (and the late Gerald) Kessler, Arlene (and the late Denny) Schale, Karen & Bryce York, and Paul & Ellamae Thiessen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Geabhart.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held Saturday, March 7, at 2:00 PM at The House Event Center, 126 North Main Street, Hillsboro, Kansas 67063.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christian Motorcyclists Association Prison Ministries.
