Dan Edward Burress, Jr.

Dan Edward Burress Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away March 16th, 2026, at the age of 71.

Danny was known for his mechanical intelligence and his ability to learn and then do anything he set his mind to. He had a love of motorcycles since the age of 14, and a need to feel the wind in his hair. This passion took him and the love of his life, Janis, on many winding roads through this beautiful life.

Dan was an avid airplane enthusiast and had his private pilots license to feel the wind in his hair up at 10,000 feet. He also was a collector of firearms, coins, and knowledge. He enjoyed showing off these collections any chance he could get. Danny was also quite a pyromaniac. He loved building fires, explosives and fireworks. This led him down the path of becoming a layman chemist and making his own fireworks for the family’s annual 4th of July celebrations.

Danny was a joyful and loving man, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He gave his time, knowledge, skills, and labor to anyone in need. He was full of amazement and wonder for life and wanted to share that pure joy with the world.

Dan is survived by his wife of 53 years of marriage, Janis Burress; his children, Melissa Buchanan and Leslie Matson; his grandchildren, Matthew, Amy, Marley, Jacob, and Daniel; and ALL of Danny’s honorary children, the ones who didn’t call him Dad but to whom he provided love, time, and guidance all the same.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Edna Burress.

Funeral services celebrating Dan’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma. He will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
