DeVante Markee McCool, age 29, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was called home on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
DeVante was born on August 20, 1996, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Christy McCool and Cewanee Steele. He was raised in Coweta, where he grew into a strong, determined young man with a vibrant personality and a heart full of love for those around him. From an early age, DeVante stood out for his sense of humor, his loyalty, and his ability to bring people together.
He attended school in Coweta and later worked in construction, where he took pride in his work. DeVante was not one to shy away from hard work, and he carried himself with quiet strength and determination. Those who worked alongside him knew he was dependable and willing to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.
DeVante truly loved his family. He cherished the time spent with them and created memories that will live on forever. He especially loved his daughter, Brixlee Armani McCool, who meant the world to him. She was his greatest joy, his pride, and his motivation, and the bond they shared was undeniable.
DeVante had a presence that could not be ignored. His laughter was contagious, his spirit was genuine, and his love for life was evident to all who knew him. Whether he was joking, sharing stories, or simply spending time with loved ones, DeVante made an impact that will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his nanny Sherry McCool and uncles, Owen McCool and Mario Alexander, along with other beloved family members who welcomed him home.
DeVante leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Christy McCool; his father, Cewanee Steele; his precious daughter, Brixlee Armani McCool; the mother of his child, Taylor Barnett; his sister, Brittany McCool; his brother, DeAundra McCool; his grandmother, Henrietta Fuller; his aunt, Samantha Steele; his cousins, Shawnnessy McCool and Dasia McCool; his nieces, nephews, cousins, other aunts and uncles; and a host of dear friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Though his time on earth was brief, DeVante lived a life that touched many. His legacy of love, laughter, and strength will continue through those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma. Viewing will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be DeAundra McCool, Deuce Ivy, Keith Cade, Josh Cade, Austin King, Casey Thomas, Ladon Ceasar, Corey Murphy, Logan Kemp, Bryan Hooks, Brodie Baker, and Devon Harrison.
Flower Girls will be Shan’Dreyia Rendon, Samiah Smith, Nevaeh Cade, Payton Woods, Jordyn Wilson, Adaya Manns, Brilea Rodgers, Chaisee Ivy, Cortney Ivy, Cheianne Ivy, Dylann Cross, DeAnna Madrid, Mikell Washington, Katie Hall
