Franklin Andrew
Jones Jr.
Jul 17, 1954 — Sep 19, 2026
Coweta
Franklin “Andy” Andrew Jones Jr., beloved father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at the age of 72. He was born on July 17, 1954, in Carthage, Texas.
While still in high school, Andy made the decision to join the United States Army, beginning a life of service to his country. He proudly served our country for more than 30 years, including service during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. After more than three decades of honorable service, he retired, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and sacrifice that his family will always remember with pride.
Later in life he was known as someone that could spot a bargain a mile away. Garage sales, the Walmart clearance aisle, and a good deal were right up his alley—and paying full price was just not his style. He loved his cast iron, old Coke machines, and finding a good treasure. But more than anything, he loved his family and friends fiercely. He was the kind of man who would do just about anything for the people he loved, without ever asking for anything in return.
Andy is survived by his two sons, Franklin “Andy” Jones III and his wife, Kimberly Jones and Thomas Jones and his wife, Chelsea Jones; his beloved grandson, Hunter Jones; his stepdaughter, Kim Scarbrough; his step-grandchildren, Dustin Hamner, Tristen Freeman, and Ralyn Scarbrough; and his longtime girlfriend, Donna Cox.
He is also survived by his two brothers, Edward “Dean” Jones and his wife, Tanya Jones, and Corbett “Chad” Jones and his wife, Mary Jones; his sister, Teresa Meyer and her husband, Blake Meyer; his uncle, C.E. “Brodie” Akins and his wife, Jane Akins; and his aunt, Kim Parks and her husband, Frank Parks. He leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Andrew Jones Sr.; his grandfather, James Corbett Akins “Big Papa”; and his grandmother, LaRue Chadwick Akins “Big Mama”.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. His stories, his laughter, his stubborn streak, and his big heart will live on in all of us. If he could have the last word, we already know what he would say: “Have a lovely day!”. So, in his honor, that is exactly what we will do.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Brown’s Funeral Service in Coweta, Oklahoma. Funeral services celebrating Andy’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at CrossPoint Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma, with Pastor Steve Lee officiating.
