George Wesley “Wes” Switzer, age 72, of Porter, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on July 7, 1953, in Brookfield, Missouri, to Franklin Ralph Switzer and Thelma Mae (Guyer) Switzer.

Wes grew up in Bucklin, Missouri, where he attended Bucklin schools and graduated from high school in 1971. Throughout his life, Wes was known as a hardworking man who enjoyed staying busy and working with his hands. He spent many years in the construction field as a framer and carpenter, and also worked in electrical underground utilities installing power poles. Wes worked for B & J Contractors for over 40 years, dedicating much of his career to the trade before later managing car washes until his retirement.

Wes was a man who loved being active and staying busy. He enjoyed working outdoors and was known as a hard worker who rarely sat still. Wes also enjoyed meeting people and spending time with friends, often going to breakfast and visiting with those around him. His friendly personality meant he rarely met a stranger.

Wes was united in marriage to Diane Marie Switzer on July 3, 1987, in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death in 1998. He later married Darla Sue Switzer on October 6, 2001, in Oologah, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death in 2009.

Wes is survived by his children, Adam Switzer and wife Cynara of Stanford, Kentucky; Justin Switzer and wife Maritza of Citrus Springs, Florida; and Paul Switzer and wife Whitney of Albany, Oregon; his stepchildren, Chris Bowen and wife Stephanie of Wichita, Kansas; Shannon Bowen and wife Michelle of Catoosa, Oklahoma; Becky Triplett and husband Chris of Crestview, Florida; Kenneth Heaton of Talala, Oklahoma; Brian Heaton and wife Teresa of Collinsville, Oklahoma; and Shawna Williams and husband Steven of Inola, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, his brothers, Ralph Switzer of Las Vegas, Nevada and Keith Switzer and wife Betty of Kearney, Missouri, his sister, Beverly Ratliff of Woodstock, Georgia, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Diane Marie Switzer and Darla Sue Switzer, his parents, Franklin Ralph Switzer and Thelma Mae Switzer, and his sister Norma Fisher.

A funeral service honoring Wes’ life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
