Janice Lee Hopkins, aged 82, departed this life on Friday, July 11, 2025, in Coweta, Oklahoma. She was born on January 1, 1943, in San Bernardino, California. Janice lived a life marked by devotion to family, a gift for creativity, and an unshakeable spirit of generosity.
The daughter of Joseph Reuben Hammons, Sr. and Alice Marie (Holt) Hammons, she grew alongside her brother, Joseph Reuben Hammons, Jr., and sister, Ruth Marie Thompson, who all preceded her in rest. Janice inherited her parents' hardworking ethics and compassionate heart which she carried throughout her life.
Janice graduated from Miami High School in 1961, then furthered her education by attending NEO College. She married the love of her life, Forrest Kenneth Hopkins, Jr. Together they started a family and raised four children. Janice devoted her life to the nurturing care of her family as a homemaker—a role she cherished deeply and approached with the same dedication and love as she did in all aspects of her life.
Janice found joy in crocheting and painting, hobbies that not only spoke to her artistic talents but also built a legacy of warmth and beauty for her family. Her creations became treasures that reflected the care and precision she put into every stitch and stroke.
Janice's legacy is lovingly cherished by her beloved husband, Forrest Kenneth Hopkins, Jr., and their children: Chris Hopkins and wife Marci, Eva Jones and husband Herb, Janice Hardy and husband Paul, and Forrest Kenneth Hopkins III. Her spirit lives on in her grandchildren: Cathy Taylor, Dalton Swayze, Aiden Hopkins, Hunter Jones, Eon Edic, Forrest Kenneth Hopkins IV, Mason Schermer, as well as multiple great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family who all experienced her boundless love and support. In addition to her family who greeted her in a heavenly reunion is granddaughter Ryleigh Hopkins.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Janice Lee Hopkins will be missed profoundly; yet her legacy continues to radiate through the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her mark on this world is indelible, echoing in the hearts of her family and all who cherished her.
