Jerry Wayne Moore

December 1, 1943 — February 9, 2020

Jerry Wayne Moore, age 76, Broken Arrow resident departed this life Sunday morning, February 9, 2020 at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, OK surrounded by his family. Jerry was born December 1, 1943 in Meridian, MS and was the son of Claude M. and Elsie (Higginbotham) Moore. He was a 1961 graduate of Meridian High School in Meridian, MS and attended Meridian Jr. College. Jerry was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He served in two tours in Vietnam and was a Staff Sargent and Airborne Radio Technician. In the 1970's, he owned a CB/Ham radio shop in Wiggins, MS where he built Ham radios. Jerry married the love of his life, Sharon Jewel Clark in April of 1984 in Gulfport, MS. He called Sharon his "beautiful wife" and winked at her all the time. He worked at Bell South in Gulfport, MS as a Network Technician for 26 years and retired in September 1998. Jerry enjoyed collecting coins, fishing, bowling, and he loved MASH. He enjoyed traveling all over, mostly to see family in Mississippi and he loved going to Las Vegas. Jerry loved spending time with his family, but very much loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jerry is survived by his wife, Sharon Jewel (Clark) Moore of the home in Broken Arrow, OK; four children, Joseph Moore and wife Cassie of Saucier, MS, Melissa Purchner of Broken Arrow, OK, Melinda Nichols and husband Chris of Broken Arrow, OK, and Theresa Desporte and husband Dennis of Vancleave, MS; one sister, Claudia (Moore) Webb of Gulfport, MS; nine grandchildren, Jesse Bond and wife Sophie of Saucier, MS, Spencer Bond and wife Dee of Gulfport, MS, Michael Lewis of Broken Arrow, OK, Trista Lewis of Broken Arrow, OK, Kaylynn Lindsay of Vancleave, MS, JayLynn Cross of Broken Arrow, OK, Dalton Cross of Broken Arrow, OK, Miley Stritch of Vancleave, MS, and Morgan Desporte of Vancleave, MS; three great grandchildren, Chandler, Lane, and Steven Bond of Saucier, MS; niece, Veronica Webb of Park City, UT; nephew, Christopher Moore and wife Rebecca of Gulfport, MS; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Claude M. and Elsie (Higginbotham) Moore and two brothers, Claude M. Moore, Jr. and Donald Moore. Viewing will be Friday, February 14, 2020 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and services celebrating Jerry's life will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Rev. Fred Young officiating. Burial will be in Clark Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK. Pallbearers are Wayne Purchner, Chris Nichols, Joseph Moore, Jesse Bond, Spencer Bond, and Michael Lewis.
