Jimmie Nelson Rogers, age 94, of Coweta, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday morning, August 14, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on April 21, 1932, in Shamrock, Oklahoma, to Joseph Ezekiel Rogers and Vivian Mae (Miller) Rogers.

Jimmie attended school in Shamrock through the fifth grade before moving to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he continued his education and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1949. He later attended Oklahoma State University, where he earned his master’s degree. Jimmie proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years.

On August 30, 1958, Jimmie married Rebecca Loreace “Becky” Jenkins in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Together, Jimmie and Becky shared nearly 68 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered around family, faith, and the many memories they made together.

Education and coaching were important parts of Jimmie’s life. He coached seventh-grade basketball at Alice Robertson Junior High School in Muskogee and later coached basketball in Bethel, Kansas. While attending Oklahoma State University, Jimmie had the opportunity to serve as a student assistant coach under legendary basketball coach Hank Iba. He later taught junior high school for 11 years in Stockton, California, before coming to Coweta. Jimmie devoted 17 years to teaching special education at Central Elementary School with Coweta Public Schools before retiring in 1980. Throughout his career, he had the opportunity to teach, coach, encourage, and make a difference in the lives of many young people.

Jimmie enjoyed many things throughout his life. He loved playing the guitar and singing in church and enjoyed coaching Little League baseball. While living in Stockton, he was also part of a country music band. He enjoyed refinishing wood furniture and was especially proud of his 1969 Chevrolet C10 pickup that he helped restore. Jimmie was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering on the OSU Cowboys.

Above all, family was the greatest love of Jimmie’s life. He especially treasured watching his grandchildren grow and being involved in the things they loved. Whether they were playing basketball, baseball, soccer, or participating in other activities, Jimmie loved being there to watch, encourage, and support them. Some of his most treasured memories were simply being present for the people he loved most.

Jimmie’s faith was also an important part of his life. He was a member of Clearview Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, where he loved attending church and especially enjoyed the fellowship of his Sunday School class. His church family held a special place in his heart. Jimmie also treasured the friendships he shared with his McDonald’s Coffee Club.

Jimmie is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca “Becky” Rogers of the home; two sons, Stan Rogers and wife Cindy of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Brett Rogers and wife Cheri of Claremore, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Haley Randel and husband Christopher, Emily Fontenot and husband Ross, Cabot Rogers and wife Grace Anne, Chelsi Fisher and husband Kyle, Blair Workman and husband Ethan, Annie Samaniego and husband Matt, and Maddi Kepley and husband Caleb; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Ezekiel and Vivian Mae Rogers; his brothers, Leon Rogers and wife Leona and Curtis Rogers and his wives, Francis and Lillian; his sisters, Betty Webb and husband Willis and Gala Fent and husband Ramon; and his great-granddaughter, Vivian Mae “Vivi” Fisher.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Brown’s Funeral Service in Coweta, with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Funeral services celebrating Jimmie’s life will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Clearview Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, with Rev. Wayne Wall and Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Jimmie will be laid to rest following the service at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
