John Kevin Rutherford

John Kevin Rutherford, known affectionately as Kevin, passed away peacefully at his home in Broken Arrow, OK, on Monday morning, October 20, 2025, at the age of 67. He was born on March 27, 1958, in Tulsa, OK to John Lee and Judith Ann (McGrew) Rutherford. Kevin's life was marked by dedication to his family, service to his community, and a passion for the simple joys in life.

Kevin attended Broken Arrow Schools and proudly graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1976. His early years set the stage for a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to those he held dear.

After high school, Kevin dedicated 26 years of his life to the Broken Arrow Fire Department, where he served with valor and distinction. His bravery and selflessness as a firefighter earned him the respect and admiration of both his colleagues and the community he protected. Upon his retirement, Kevin left behind a legacy of courage and camaraderie that continued to inspire long after he hung up his helmet.

Kevin's life was enriched by his marriage to the love of his life, Chrystal Fay Meadows, on January 10, 2010. Their union was a testament to true partnership and mutual devotion. Together, they built a life filled with shared interests and unwavering support for one another.

A man of many interests, Kevin enjoyed golfing, playing softball, and coaching baseball. He was also an avid hunter and a huge fan of OU football, passions that he shared with friends and family alike. His enthusiasm for life's pleasures was contagious, and he had a unique ability to make every moment count.

Kevin's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Chrystal Rutherford of Broken Arrow, OK; his father, Dr. John Lee Rutherford of Tulsa, OK; his sons, Chris Rutherford of Tulsa, OK, Jeremi Rutherford of Tulsa, OK, and Joshua Rutherford and wife Ashley of Albert Lea, MN; his granddaughters, Kadyn, Breanna, and Charlotte Rutherford; his sister, Amy Harp of Tulsa, OK; and a host of other relatives and friends who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Ann Rutherford, and his sister, Lori.

Kevin's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit remains a guiding light.

Services celebrating Kevin's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Life.Church South Broken Arrow, 5801 S. Elm Place, Broken Arrow, OK 74011. The service will be officiated by Pastor Corbin Francis. Kevin will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, OK.
