Johnnie “Raymond” Benge, 85, passed away in the early morning on February 14, 2026, in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on July 23, 1940, Raymond was the son of Earl and Lora Benge and grew up in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Fort Gibson High School graduating class of 1958. Raymond lived most of his adult life in Oklahoma although he did spend several years traveling in the states for jobs. Raymond called the towns of Fort Gibson and later Braggs his home. Raymond was a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.

He is survived by his daughter Teresa Herring and her husband Jerry. He has three grandchildren: grandson Quinton Bailey and his wife Serena of Tulsa, OK, granddaughter Diamond Bailey and her husband Daniel Roy of Oklahoma City, OK, and Miranda Herring of Coweta, OK, as well as many friends, relatives, and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; his mother and father, Earl and Lora Benge; his brother and sister-in-law Joe and Mary Benge, his daughter Laura.

Raymond has requested that there not be a service. He will be cremated and will be interred in a companion urn with his wife Charlotte at Bethel Cemetery in Braggs, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation on behalf of Raymond in honor of his eldest daughter Laura who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was a toddler.
