Johnny Gilbert Taylor, resident of Coweta, OK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 4, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK, just one day shy of his 68th birthday. He was born on November 5, 1957, in Chicago, IL to John Riley and Phyllis Dean (Brown) Taylor. Johnny's life was a testament to his resilience, work ethic, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.
Johnny attended McLane High School in Fresno, CA. After school, he followed in his father's footsteps, learning the intricate craft of paint and body work. This skill would become his lifelong profession, with most of his career spent at A-1 Auto Body, where he was known for his meticulous work and dedication.
In March 1980, Johnny married the love of his life, Lisa Diane Nash. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Amberli, Rodney, and Mikayla, who added even more love and happiness to Johnny's life.
Johnny was a man of many passions. He had a profound love for fishing, which provided him with countless hours of tranquility and reflection. His enthusiasm for restoring hot rods and collecting model cars and motorcycles was not just a hobby but a way of life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa Taylor of Coweta, OK; his children, Amberli Taylor and husband Bo Cochran of Bixby, OK, Rodney Taylor, and Mikayla Epperson and husband Tanner of Wagoner, OK; his grandchildren, CJ Cochran, Paige Cochran, Finn Epperson, and Sam Epperson; his sisters, Vicki Hopkins of Porter, OK, and Penny Van Gilder and husband Tommy of Coweta, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John Riley and Phyllis Dean Taylor, his brother, Charles Dennis Taylor, and his brother-in-law, Rob Hopkins.
Johnny's life was a beautiful portrait of dedication, love, and joy. His memory will forever be a beacon of light for all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A visitation for Johnny will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK. While there will be no formal service, this time will allow those who knew and loved Johnny to gather, share stories, and celebrate a life well-lived.
