Karla Ollene Caruth, age 80, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Cornerstone Hospital in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Karla was born on December 26, 1945, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Blaine Maxwell Parks and Lois Irene (Tebow) Parks. She lived in Lamont, Oklahoma until 1958 before moving to Manchester, Oklahoma, where she attended school through her freshman year. She later transferred to Wakita High School, graduating in 1964. During her school years, Karla loved playing basketball and went on to play at Northwestern Oklahoma State University for one year before moving to Des Moines, Iowa to play AAU basketball for Look Magazine.
Karla married the love of her life, Clayton Eugene Caruth, on January 27, 1968, in Des Moines, Iowa. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work, raising their family and sharing many years of love and memories.
Throughout her life, Karla was known for her strong work ethic and willingness to do whatever needed to be done. Beginning in 1984, Clay and Karla owned and operated Clay’s Motor Company in Tulsa, OK where she kept the books, notarized titles, sold cars, detailed vehicles and assisted with the day-to-day operations. They worked side by side for 27 years before retiring together on October 31, 2011.
Karla had a deep love for her family and treasured time spent with them. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, walking her dog around the neighborhood, working in the yard, scrapbooking, and studying her Bible. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of Northside Christian Church in Broken Arrow for over 50 years.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Clayton Caruth; her sons, Clint Caruth and wife Tina, Chad Caruth and wife Stephanie, and Chet Caruth and wife Laura; her brother, Gary Blaine Parks; her sister, Cynthia “Cindy” Renee (Parks) Olden; and her grandchildren, Peyton, Paige-Elicia, Lawson, Ryann, Holden, Cale, and Colin, along with many extended family members and friends.
Karla was preceded in death by her parents, Blaine and Lois Parks.
Karla will be remembered for her strength, her dedication to her family, and the love she gave so freely. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and devotion that will continue through the lives she touched.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Brown’s Funeral Service in Coweta, Oklahoma. A celebration of Karla’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Northside Christian Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, with Pastor Justin Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Clint Caruth, Chad Caruth, Chet Caruth, Peyton Caruth, Holden Caruth, and Cale Caruth. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lawson Caruth and Colin Caruth.
