Lester “Joe” Stevens, age 67, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Fremont, Missouri. He was born on February 19, 1959, in Oroville, California, to Donald Lee Stevens, Sr. and Norma Lou (Ward) Hayes.

Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army from March 28, 1978, until his honorable discharge on March 30, 1981. During his time in the Army, he served as a Combat Engineer, faithfully serving his country with honor and dedication, a chapter of his life he carried with great pride.

Joe married the love of his life, Barbara Karen (Berry) Stevens, on May 14, 1977, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The two shared many years together building a life centered around family, hard work, and caring for those they loved.

Joe spent much of his life working around boats and was well known for his skills as a certified boat mechanic. Over the years, he worked with After Hours Marina, Larry Smith Marine Services, and Triple K, where he built a reputation for his mechanical knowledge and willingness to lend a helping hand. Joe took pride in his work and valued the friendships he made along the way.

Outside of work, Joe loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing and participating in fishing tournaments. He was known for telling stories and sharing laughs with family and friends. Above all, Joe cherished his grandchildren, and spending time with them brought him some of his greatest joy.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Sasha Sasser and husband Denver of Haskell, Oklahoma; Ericka Bailey and husband Joshua of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Randie Sampson and husband Josh of Coweta, Oklahoma; his sister, Jennifer Woolman of Skiatook, Oklahoma; and his seven grandchildren, Max Canfield, Chris Canfield, Bruce Sampson, Astrid Sasser, Freyja Sasser, Benjamin Sampson, and Peyton Bailey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as special nieces, Kristi Pollardo and Candace Meyer, a special nephew, Shawn Berry, and his brother-in-law, Doug Stack.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Karen Stevens; his parents, Donald Lee Stevens, Sr. and Norma Lou Hayes; his sister, Teresa Stack; and his brothers, Donald Lee Stevens, Jr. and Dennis Stevens.

A memorial service honoring Joe’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma, with Rev. Brody Morris officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard.
