Ben Lowell Swanson, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Porta Caeli House in Tulsa, OK. He was born on June 28, 1936, in Comanche County, OK, to Guy and Delia (Cagle) Swanson. Ben’s life was a testament to quiet strength, steadfast faith, and unwavering devotion to his family and church.
Ben attended school in Sterling, OK, and was a graduate of Sterling High School. He also attended Cameron College, where he pursued further education. From an early age, Ben learned the value of hard work, an ethic that stayed with him throughout his life and career.
On May 19, 1956, Ben married the love of his life, Marlene Joyce Summey, and together they shared a beautiful marriage filled with love, laughter, and faith. Their union was blessed with three children: Deborah, David, and Kerry. Ben was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose greatest joy came from time spent with his family and loved ones.
Ben worked for many years as a machinist with T.D. Williamson, Inc., where he was known for his strong work ethic, precision, and dependability. Even after retirement, Ben remained active and engaged, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Faith was the cornerstone of Ben’s life. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Coweta, where he served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Ben’s gentle spirit, servant’s heart, and love for the Lord touched many lives. His church family was deeply important to him, and he cherished the fellowship and friendships formed through his years of service.
In his quieter moments, Ben enjoyed spending time with family, riding dirt bikes in earlier years, and going to the cold swimming hole. He found joy in being outdoors and treasured the moments he could share with those he loved most.
Ben’s legacy is carried on by his daughter, Deborah Lynn Berry and her husband Mac of Grove, OK; his sons, David Scott Swanson and his wife Robin of Omaha, TX, and Kerry Todd Swanson and his wife Sheilah of Huntsville, AR; his sister, Geneva Jacobi of Elgin, OK; his five grandchildren, Zachary Swanson (Maranda), Gabral Swanson (Tia), Ahna Swanson, Kerrah Drake (Josh), and Jacob Swanson (Jennifer); and his ten great-grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends who were blessed to know him.
Ben was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Marlene Joyce Swanson; his parents, Guy and Delia Swanson; and his grandson, Joshua Swanson.
