Madeline Cassie Sasser, age 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was born on November 29, 1929, in Keokee, Virginia to the late Denver Clarence Kelly and Mrytle Grace (Price) Kelly.
She lived a remarkable life that spanned nearly a century; a lifetime marked by resilience, independence, and quiet strength. Born during a time when opportunities for women were limited, she nonetheless carried a strong will and self-reliance that remained with her throughout her life. In 1953, She married James W. Sasser, with whom she built a home and raised her children with. While Madeline never really claimed many hobbies, she was known for her love of collecting, particularly items she found meaningful or useful, a trait her family remembers well. Life was quieter in her later years, spent in the nursing home where she found comfort in simple routines, the laughter of her grandkids, and the faithful companionship of her little chihuahua, PeeWee.
Madeline is survived by her three children: daughter Pam Frazier of Morristown, Tennessee, son William Woodard of Coweta, Oklahoma, daughter Barbara Matheny of Coweta, Oklahoma; her six grandchildren: Denver J. Sasser and wife Sasha, Matthew W. Sasser, Dyer Knight, and James E. Sasser Jr., Megan Hopson and husband Aaron, Adrain Fraizer: her six great grandchildren Astrid, Freyja, Max, Chris, Michaela, Cheyenne; her two Bonus Great Grandchildren Bruce and Ben; as well as Dear Friends Debbie Betts, Gaylon Tiry and Mike Tiry.
Madeline is preceded in death by her husband James W. Sasser, her son James E. Sasser, her brothers Cecil Kelly and Glen Kelly, and her sisters Lois Lubovsky and Furl Davis.
