On September 14, 1996, the Lord blessed Tialesha Barnes and Robert Wayne Winston with a beautiful gift of life. They named her Mikel Sha’Wayne.
Mikel attended elementary school in Coweta, Oklahoma and graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She was a Joyful and loving young lady who cherished spending time with her family. She enjoyed preparing her favorite recipes for loved ones and enjoying special time with her nieces and nephews. Mikel also treasured every moment with her mother Tialesha, and her grandmother Shirl, who she affectionately called “Grandmama.” Most recently Mikel shared a loving and memorable time with her grandmother Jackie, and family during a celebration in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
At an early age, Mikel began working at a local Mexican restaurant in Coweta, Oklahoma. She later worked at Country Mart in Coweta, before dedicating herself to serving others as a rehabilitation training specialist in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Mikel resided in Haskell, Oklahoma where she was always surrounded by the love of her entire family. Her beautiful smile, kind heart, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Mikel was preceded in death by her father Robert Wayne Winston; her beloved sister Jayla Barnes; her great-grandmothers Espanola Love, Lucille Lang, and Edna Barnes; her uncle Marlo Barnes; and her aunt Hazel Love.
Mikel entered into eternal peace on July 24, 2026. She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents Tialesha Barnes-Miller (Antonio) of Haskell, OK; grandparents Curtis Barnes of Coweta, OK, Shirl Barnes of Haskell, OK, Jacqueline Winston of Tulsa, OK, Kathy Reed of Tulsa, OK, Joyce Miller of Chicago, IL, Larry Cooper of Chicago, IL; her brothers David Barnes of Haskell, OK, Cody Barnes (Alexis) of Tulsa, OK, Keandre Winston of Tulsa, OK; her uncles Bruce Raglin of Tulsa, OK, Eric Love (LaTonya) of Haskell, OK, Curtis Barnes, Jr. of Tulsa, OK, Brandon Barnes of Tulsa, OK, Michael Winston, Sr. (Richelle) of Modesto, CA; her Aunts Tonya Kimble of Haskell, OK, Stephanie Love of Tahlequah, OK, Marsha Marshall of Red Bird, OK, Latasha Hall (Terrell) of Atlanta, GA, and Talisha Tucker (Rory) of Tulsa, OK, Angel Smith of Chicago, IL, Lisa Johnson of Chicago, IL; and a special cousin Bonnie McDaniel of Texas.
She also leaves a host of family, and friends that will cherish her life and dear memories eternally.
Services to honor Mikel will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Haskell, Oklahoma. Viewing will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 12:00 to 7:00 PM at Brown’s Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma. Mikel will be laid to rest in Jackson Grove Cemetery.
