Norma Jean Edwards

Norma Jean Edwards, age 92, of Coweta, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Rolling Hills Care Center in Catoosa, Oklahoma.

Norma was born on May 15, 1934, in Wister, Oklahoma, to Mack Thomas Goad and Myrtle Lee (Dix) Goad. She attended Braggs Schools in Braggs, Oklahoma.

On May 1, 1953, Norma married the love of her life, LeRoy Edwards, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In the early 60’s, Norma and LeRoy, along with their children Dexter and Linda, moved to Tracy, California, where they lived for 42 before she returned to Coweta. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing in 1998.

Norma dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. She created a warm and welcoming home where everyone felt like family. She loved cooking, visiting with friends and loved ones, and never met a stranger. Her home was always open, and her kind heart and generous spirit made everyone feel welcome. Many friends affectionately knew her as "Sweet Norma Jean," a nickname that perfectly reflected her gentle nature and loving heart.

Norma was a faithful member of Coweta Assembly, where she enjoyed serving her church family.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Holland; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her brother, Kenneth Goad; her nephew, Jimmie Lee Edwards; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Edwards; her son, Dexter Edwards; her son-in-law, Anthony Holland; her parents, Mack Thomas Goad and Myrtle Lee Goad; her siblings, Wanda Collins, Alfred Goad, Bobby T. Goad, Louise Goad, Clara Perry, Hazel Baird, John Goad, and Gertrude Hipp.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Norma's life will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Brown's Funeral Service in Coweta, Oklahoma. Family and friends are invited to come and go as they remember and honor her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to King's Kitchen at Coweta Assembly, a ministry that was close to her heart.

Norma's kindness, warm hospitality, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
