Owasso

Pattie Lou Childress, age 87, resident of Owasso, OK (formerly of Haskell, OK), passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in Owasso, OK. She was born on April 12, 1938, in Austin, AR to Ray and Alma (Holloway) Childress. Pattie's life was a testament to the enduring strength of family, faith, and community.

Pattie attended school in Haskell, OK and graduated from Haskell High School in 1956. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Tulsa Junior College in Tulsa, OK, where she furthered her education. Pattie's professional journey was marked by her entrepreneurial spirit; she was a respected independent insurance agent and real estate broker, owning Creek Insurance Agency in Haskell, OK. Later, she brought her expertise and warm customer service to MetLife Insurance Company as a call service representative, a role she held until her well-deserved retirement.

Family was the cornerstone of Pattie's life. She is lovingly survived by her children, James Kent Qualls and wife TerryAnn of Haskell, OK, Kevin M. Qualls and wife Brenda of Haskell, OK, John Keith Qualls and wife Michele of Decaturville, TN, Joyce Kathleen Colbert of Morrilton, AR, Sheila Kay Philion of Owasso, OK, and Keli Ruth Loveless and husband Duane of Tulsa, OK. Her legacy continues through her 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, with 2 more on the way. Pattie is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Jennings and husband Don of Texas, and Jean Brown and companion Ron Walton of Owasso, OK, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Pattie was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Alma Childress, her brother, Bob Childress, her grandchildren, Jessica Loveless and Brandon Qualls, and her great-grandson, Tanner Loveless.

Pattie's interests and activities reflected her zest for life and her commitment to others. As a Red Hat Lady, she enjoyed the camaraderie and adventures that came with being part of this vibrant society. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, instilling in them the values of love and family. An avid book reader, Pattie found joy and solace in the pages of countless stories. Her faith was a guiding light, and she shared it generously, teaching Sunday school and nurturing the spiritual growth of her children. Pattie's laughter and presence were a constant delight during gatherings with her sisters. She was a member of Memorial Drive Church of Christ in Tulsa, OK, where she found fellowship and purpose.

In the spirit of Pattie's unwavering love, we are reminded of the words from I Corinthians 13:4-5: "Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered." These verses encapsulate the essence of Pattie's motherly love—a love that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
