Peggy Fern Hogan

September 11, 1938 — May 10, 2025

Coweta

Peggy Fern Hogan, age 86, resident of Coweta, OK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2025. After an eight-month battle with cancer her final wish was to go to sleep and wake up in Heaven, which she accomplished with style. She was born on September 11, 1938, in Peggs, OK to Jack Denton and Pearl Forbes Denton.

She lived for a short time in California but was raised primarily in Coweta, OK. She attended Coweta Public Schools and graduated in 1956. She married Calvin Lee Hogan on August 3, 1956, and was married for 54 years until his death in 2011. Peggy raised four children and was a homemaker and had several jobs in the customer service field, including Sooner Federal, First National Bank of Coweta and Farm Bureau. Peggy also was co-owner of Hogan's Phillips 66 Grocery from 1970 to 1976.

In retirement, Peggy spent many hours with her mother and her grandchildren. This also allowed her to continue to travel. One of the ways she did this was to become a tour guide with a travel company. She and Calvin enjoyed these trips together, her as the guide and Calvin helping with the luggage. She traveled not only to all 50 states but abroad as well. Another interest she had was square dancing. She was a member of the Heel Cloppers Square Dance group in Tulsa and enjoyed dancing in a variety of places, including a cruise ship and the Coweta Fall Festival. She enjoyed taking trips to Branson, Hawaii and an Alaska Cruise that she enjoyed with her brothers and their wives. She also enjoyed camping. She traveled many miles with her husband, pulling a camper behind the truck or spending time at the lake where the entire family would join. She enjoyed playing cards, not only with a special group of ladies, but at family gatherings with anyone who would join in. Many hours were spent around the kitchen table playing Skip-Bo or Rummy or Pass the Trash. She had her favorite TV shows, Wheel of Fortune (which she taped every day so she could watch in fast forward) and Jeopardy (where she would yell at the contestants if they didn't know the answer.

Peggy was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church where she attended regularly. She was a sponsor or cook at Falls Creek several times and continued to support the camp with donations.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Denton and Pearl Forbes Denton, her husband, Calvin Hogan, her brothers, Edward "PeeWee" Denton, John "JW" Denton, and Boyd "Squirt" Denton and her granddaughter, Amanda Grace Fransisco.

Peggy is survived by her children, Mark Hogan, Dana Thomas, Janda Plunk and husband Sam, and Dale Hogan; her 7 grandchildren, Casey Fransisco, Benjamin Hogan, Jenna Fransisco, Sarah Allen and husband Matt, Kyle Renshaw and wife Heather, Ryan Renshaw and wife Devin, and Toby Plunk; her 11 great-grandchildren, Hailey Hogan, Caleb Duncan, Eli Hogan, Asher Allen, Dean Fransisco, Chloe Allen, Emily Renshaw, Luke Fransisco, James Renshaw, Maverick Allen, and Maven Allen.
