Polly Jean Hayes, age 80, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday morning, March 21, 2026.
Polly was born October 26, 1945, in McLain, Oklahoma to Fred Lee Bias and Pauline (Bridges) Bias. She graduated from Warner High School with the Class of 1963 and continued her education at Bacone College.
Polly was united in marriage to James Michael “Mike” Hayes on December 22, 1964, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared many years together building a life centered around family, love, and commitment.
Polly spent many years working in the medical field, where she built lasting friendships and earned the respect of those she worked alongside. She worked as a secretary at Saint Francis Hospital for over ten years and later served as an office manager for Kidney Specialists of Oklahoma for six years. She also worked for a short time at a daycare in Tulsa, where her caring and nurturing nature was evident to all.
Outside of her career, Polly enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She loved fishing, going for drives, taking vacations, and watching cooking shows. She especially cherished time spent with her family, who meant everything to her.
Polly will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her warmth, strength, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Dawn Montgomery of Wagoner, Oklahoma; her brother, Henry Bias and wife Mary Jane of Coweta, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Cory Rea, Micah Hayes, Madison Hayes, Katelyn Lavender, Connor Montgomery, and Chloe Cordray; and her great-grandchildren, Aunnah Rosser, Paige Rosser, Khiler Doyle, Emma Croffut, Zoie Rea, Bryson Rea, and Bear Lavender. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Lee Bias and Pauline Bias; her husband, James Michael “Mike” Hayes; her son, Wesley Michael Hayes; her granddaughter, Courtenay Doyle; and her siblings, William Dean Bias, Becky Jane Shell, Betty Jo Morgan, Harley Dale Bias, and Linda Faye Greenhaw.
Funeral services celebrating Polly’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma, with Steven Baldridge officiating. She will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
