Obituary

Sarah Ellen Clifton, 53, of Coweta, Oklahoma, entered into eternal rest on August 25, 2026. She was a cherished wife, mother, Dede, sister and friend whose loving and kind presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sarah was born in Dallas, Texas on November 18, 1972 to Michael and Betty Jo Dever.

For 34 years, she and her husband, Chad, built a life centered on family, faith, and love. Together, they shared countless memories and remained devoted partners through every season of life.

Sarah’s greatest joy in life was her family. For much of her children’s childhood, Sarah was a stay-at-home mom, pouring her time, love, and energy into raising her family and creating a home where everyone felt welcome.

Her love extended far beyond her immediate family. Sarah was “Mama Sarah” to countless people. She was a woman whose soul seemed to scream “I love you” to all she encountered. If you were a friend of one of her children, she automatically considered you one of her own. Her home was a place where people were loved, welcomed, fed, encouraged, and prayed for.

Sarah was a member of First Baptist Church Coweta where she served in many ways throughout the years, including teaching preschool. Her faith was at the center of her life, and she was a true prayer warrior for so many. She never missed an opportunity to tell others how much Jesus loved them. She had a gift for making people feel seen and cared for, whether through a warm hug, a genuine smile, a kind word, or a simple reminder that she was praying for them.

Sarah also spent several years working within the Coweta school system and later worked at a local pharmacy, where she became known for her kindness. She greeted everyone who walked through the door with a smile and a kind word, treating each person as though they mattered—because to Sarah, they did.

She loved spending her days caring for her family and making memories with her grandchildren. Some of her sweetest moments were spent gardening alongside her grandbabies, sharing in the simple joys of being together.

Sarah once said that she wanted to be remembered for loving everyone who ever entered her home. There is no doubt that she accomplished exactly that. Her legacy is found in the countless people who felt loved because of her, the prayers she prayed, the hugs she gave, the children she cared for, and the faith she shared so freely.

Sarah is survived by her husband, Chad Clifton; her children, Krystyn Hawkes and husband Zeke, Samantha Blake and husband Ryan, CJ Clifton and wife Lindsey, and Leah Clifton; her grandchildren, Sawyer Hawkes, Emryn Hawkes, and Beau Blake; her father, Michael Dever; her sister, Robin McMurray; her brother, Mikey; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jo Dever.

Though her absence leaves an immeasurable hole in the hearts of those who loved her, Sarah’s life continues through the people she loved so well. Her family takes comfort in knowing that the woman who spent her life reminding others how much Jesus loves them is now resting in His presence.

A celebration of Sarah’s life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Community Baptist Coweta.
