Shawn Legus Chalakee, Sr., age 59, of Coweta, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday evening, August 10, 2026, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Shawn was born on August 25, 1966, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to James Monroe Chalakee, Sr. and Jaulice Jane (Moss) Chalakee. He was raised in Coweta and graduated from Coweta High School in 1985.

On August 21, 1987, Shawn married Elizabeth Ann Sanchez-Castor in Haskell, Oklahoma. Together, they shared nearly 39 years of marriage and built a life centered around their family.

Shawn worked as a CNC machinist for Zeeco for 17 years before retiring. He was a hardworking man with a generous heart who genuinely cared about everyone around him. Shawn was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back and was always willing to help someone in need.

He enjoyed watching football, hunting, fishing, frog gigging, and spending time outdoors. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and especially enjoyed going shopping with his grandchildren. Above all, Shawn treasured his family and the time he spent with those he loved.

Shawn is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Chalakee of the home in Coweta, Oklahoma; his father, James Monroe Chalakee, Sr. of Coweta, Oklahoma; three children, Angela Brillant and husband John of Coweta, Oklahoma, Shawn Legus Chalakee, Jr. and wife Mykayla of Haskell, Oklahoma, and Cheyenne Treadwell and husband Lathan of Gore, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Alina Brillant, Malachi Chalakee, Ezekiel Chalakee, Eliza Jane Chalakee, Paisley Treadwell, and Briar Treadwell; his brothers, Monroe Chalakee and wife Sandra, Theron Chalakee and wife Tami, and Heath Chalakee; his sister, Holly Presley; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Shawn was preceded in death by his mother, Jaulice Jane Chalakee.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Brown’s Funeral Service in Coweta, Oklahoma. Funeral services celebrating Shawn's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma, with Pastor Ron Spradlin officiating. Shawn will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
