Shawn Lester Erwin, age 43, departed from this life on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born to Edmond Levester Erwin and Wilma Lea (Payne) Erwin on May 9, 1982, in Claremore, Oklahoma. A man of immense faith and loving spirit, Shawn's presence was a source of joy and inspiration to all who knew him.
Shawn attended schools in his hometown of Coweta, where his thirst for knowledge was apparent. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he regularly attended the Amazing Grace Apostolic Church in Coweta. A steadfast believer, he found joy in teaching God's word and was often uplifted by the sermons of Pastor Dan Jackson.
For 14 years, Shawn was a familiar and friendly face at Country Mart in Coweta, where his warm smile welcomed countless customers. Subsequently, he dedicated two years of service to Walmart in Coweta. His work ethic and dedication to customer service were admirable until his health took a turn due to kidney cancer.
Shawn's enthusiasm for life extended to his personal interests. He cherished the great outdoors, frequently going fishing, shooting guns, and taking walks to enjoy nature's company. He enjoyed his nights out for Chinese food and found great pleasure in playing video games, creating memorable moments with his beloved niece Sara and nephew Lucas.
His love for family was unmatched. Shawn was a role model and friend to his siblings, Jimmy D. Erwin and wife Lisa, Lavona Gail Erwin, Edmond Darrell Erwin, his children, Brooklyn Erwin and Isaiah Erwin, his sister-in-law, Cathe Erwin, his cousin, BJ Payne, his nieces, Sara Erwin, and Tara Kates, and his nephews, Lucas Erwin and Darren Hale and his wife Kelsey. He was a cherished great-uncle to Raelynn, Casey, Paityn, Ayden, Levi, and Darren Jr.. In addition to many other great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will forever carry his legacy of kindness and devotion in their hearts.
Shawn's life was a testimony to his faith-filled character. His resilience in the face of adversity, his unwavering faith, and his boundless love for his family and friends defined him. As we bid farewell to Shawn Lester Erwin, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, joy, and the indomitable spirit of a man who walked with God.
