Sheila Kay Childress, age 67, of Coweta, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Coweta Care & Rehab Center in Coweta, Oklahoma.

Sheila was born on September 5, 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Wayne Oland Coppage and Barbara Jane (McMillian) Coppage. She attended Broken Arrow schools and graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1976.

On July 2, 1977, Sheila married the love of her life, Marty Childress. Their marriage was blessed with many years of love, laughter, and devotion.

Sheila spent her career as the owner and operator of a daycare, where she cared for and nurtured countless children through the years. Her gentle spirit, patience, and love for children made a lasting impact on the many families whose lives she touched.

More than anything, Sheila loved her family. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed playing games, swimming, and making special memories with both children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by those she loved.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Marty Childress; her son, Zeke Childress and wife Erin; her grandchildren, Gabriel, Zoe, and Zayden Childress; her father, Wayne Coppage; her sister, Sheri Perkins; her mother-in-law, Lucy Dobbins; her brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Tana Coppage; her sister and brother-in-law, Traci and Jake Naylor; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Craig and Annette Childress; her sister-in-law, Teresa Coppage; her nieces and nephews, Sarah and Jacob Roberts, Laura Coppage, Grady Coppage, Gavin Perkins, Spencer Boals, and Libby Naylor; Marty’s nieces and nephews, Amber and Steve Mashburn, Melanie and Dusty Yocham, Kevin and Mariah Childress, and Keli and Brandon Naylor; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Coppage; her brothers-in-law, Joe Childress and Brian Childress; and her father-in-law, Jim Dobbins.

Sheila will be remembered for her loving heart, her dedication to children, her devotion to family, and the warmth she shared with everyone she met.

The family will hold a private family service.
