Haskell

Stevan Gene Heronemus, age 76, a man known for his analytical mind, handy skills, and courageous spirit, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in Haskell, OK. He was born on April 22, 1949, in Scott City, KS, to parents Leroy and Madonna Heronemus. Stevan's life was marked by a fierce dedication to his family, service to his community, and a love of the great outdoors.

Stevan embarked on a commendable career in law enforcement, where he served with unwavering commitment to Delta and Paonia, Colorado where he served as the Chief of Police for many years. His straight-forward and to-the-point demeanor earned him respect from colleagues and the community alike.

A pillar of strength, Stevan was preceded in death by his beloved wife Connie Sue Heronemus in 2018, cherished granddaughter Cody Dawn Park, great grandson Silas Ray Brown and his parents. His legacy continues through his devoted daughters, Lauri Brown and husband Robert of Eufaula, OK, Lisa Hodge and husband Jimmy of Haskell, OK; his son, Steve Heronemus and wife Shelly of Montana; his adoring 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother Mike Heronemus and wife Jane of Kansas, his brother Gary Heronemus of Arizona, and his sister Darla Yockey and husband Eric of Texas, all of whom will miss him deeply, in addition to nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Whether it was hunting, fishing, or building, he approached each activity with the same level of passion and excellence. His family will fondly remember him for his hardworking nature and the joy he found in joking and teasing his loved ones. They will recall the manner in which his courageous attitude and analytical approach allowed him to solve any problem or tackle any challenge.

Relocating from Colorado to Haskell five months ago, Stevan spent his final days surrounded by his loving family. A true testament to the adage "Jack of all trades," Stevan could fix anything, make anyone smile, and leave a lasting impact on all he encountered.
