Susan Claire (Bashaw) Cummins

Susan Claire (Bashaw) Cummins, a beacon of kindness and unwavering support to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the age of 62 years. She was born on March 4, 1962, in Tulsa, OK to Frederick and Marie Kathleen (McNallen) Bashaw. She dedicated her life to her family, her work, and her community, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.

 Susan was a proud 1980 graduate of Tulsa Edison High School. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue higher education at St. Gregory's College in Shawnee, OK, and later at Oklahoma University, where she earned both her Undergraduate and Master's degrees in social work. Her career as a social worker at the J.D. McCarty Center spanned many years, where she touched the lives of countless individuals and families with her compassion and dedication.

In June 2000, Susan married the love of her life, Larry Cummins, and together they shared a journey filled with joy and mutual devotion. A lifelong resident of Tulsa, she was known for her caring heart, always placing the needs of others before her own. Susan's enthusiasm for life was evident in her love for OU football and her deep faith, which she expressed through her passionate involvement with St. Joseph's Monastery and as a lifelong member of the Church of the Madalene in Tulsa.

Susan's memory will be cherished by her beloved husband, Larry Cummins; her siblings, Kelly Bashaw and husband Dan Hammill, Marc Bashaw and wife Irina, Phil Bashaw and wife Paige, and Liz Bashaw and wife Jamie Ho; her brother-in-law, Mike Cummins and wife Ginger; her adored nephews and nieces, Evan and Whitney Manering, Jona Manering, Stephanie Bashaw, Anthony Bashaw, Austin and Katie Bashaw, Emily Bashaw, Whitney Poskitt, Emily and Mark Rothstein, Kairine Brown and Lauren Ho, Nastia Bashaw and Dr. Denis Beshou; and her treasured great-nephews and nieces, Remington, Stetson, Reeder, Lulu, Romie, Alisa, and Artem. She also leaves behind numerous other relatives who will miss her deeply. 

Preceding her in death were her parents, Frederick and Kay Bashaw, her brother, Greg Bashaw, and nephew Nikolas Bashaw.

Susan's life was a testament to the power of selfless love and the impact one person can have on the world around them. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her, and her memory will be a guiding light for generations to come. 

Visitation for Susan will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, OK. A funeral mass to celebrate her life will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Church of the Madalene, located at 3188 E. 22nd Street, Tulsa, OK. Susan will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, OK.
