Terrie Ann Freeman, age 79, of Coweta, Oklahoma, passed away Monday evening, March 9, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Terrie was born January 2, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Kenneth Eugene Burton and Iva Marie (Jackson) Burton. She was raised in Tulsa and graduated from Will Rogers High School, where she formed many lifelong friendships.
On June 11, 1966, Terrie married the love of her life, Johnny Marshall Freeman, at Will Rogers Heights Christian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their nearly sixty-year marriage was a beautiful testament to their love, faith, and devotion to one another. Together they built a life centered around family, faith, and community. In 1975, Terrie and Johnny made their home in Coweta, Oklahoma, where they would raise their family and become deeply involved in the local community.
Terrie worked in the banking industry for many years, serving in several roles including Administrative Secretary and Loan Officer. She was known for her kindness, dedication, and the care she showed to the people she worked with and served each day. Later, she followed her passion for working with children and served as the Preschool Director at First Baptist Church in Coweta for six years, where she lovingly cared for and taught many young children in the community.
From 1993 until 2005, Terrie also served as a Branch Advisor for Longaberger Baskets, a role she truly enjoyed. She loved hosting gatherings, meeting new people, and building lasting friendships while sharing her enthusiasm for the well-known handcrafted baskets.
Terrie was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church in Coweta. Her faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life. She enjoyed teaching the two-year-old class at First Baptist Church in Coweta and also started a Wednesday morning ladies’ Bible study group called “Women of the Word.” Through this group she encouraged many women in their faith and friendships. One of the life lessons she often shared with others was to “forgive and forget—only God can help you do this.”
Terrie had a special talent for quilting and spent many hours creating beautiful quilts for family members and friends. Each quilt was made with love and care and became a treasured gift for those who received them. She especially cherished time spent with her family. Holidays were always special occasions, and she loved attending her grandsons’ sporting events and cheering them on from the stands. One of her greatest joys was babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
Terrie will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a faithful friend to many. Her kindness, strong faith, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Johnny Freeman of the home; her children, Bryan Freeman and wife Vickie, Bradley Wayne Freeman, and Malisia Marie Bennight and husband Eddie; six grandsons, Dustin and wife Irene, Kody, Tanner, Tristen and wife Marina, Kruz and wife Morgan, and Dakoda; two great-grandsons, Stryker and Greyson; and two great-granddaughters, Mila and Stevie Jo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Eugene Burton and Iva Marie Burton.
A celebration of Terrie’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Community Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma, with Pastor Adam Mask officiating.
