Terry Lee Grafton, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Coweta, OK, on Friday morning, November 14, 2025, just one day shy of his 75th birthday. He was born on November 15, 1950, in St. Louis, MO to Bartholomew and Margaret (Allen) Grafton. Terry's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and his country.
Terry's professional life was marked by his dedication to his craft as a welder and maintenance manager. But it was his service as a Marine that defined his unwavering commitment to his country. He enlisted in the Marines on February 29, 1969, and was honorably discharged on January 26, 1973. Terry embodied the ethos of the Marines throughout his life, always ready to lend a hand or offer support to those in need. His patriotism and love for his fellow veterans were evident in his active involvement with the Norman L. Rigdon VFW Post 5896 in Farmington, MO, where he served as a past post commander.
Family was the cornerstone of Terry's life. He is survived by his daughters, Tosha Depew and her husband Mark of Coweta, OK, Tanya Grafton of Coweta, OK, Amy Ossenberg and her husband Tony of St. Louis, MO, and Kristi Wargo of Virginia Beach, VA; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his sister, Jane Vinson of Puxico, MO; his brother, Tommy Grafton and his wife Nancy of St. Louis, MO; as will his numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Bartholomew and Margaret Grafton, his son, Derek Jordan, and his siblings, Bart Grafton, Donald Grafton, Allen Grafton, James Kean, Kenny Kean, Bill Kean, Peggy Palm, and Bobby Armer.
Beyond his work and service, Terry was a man of many passions. He found great joy in coaching his children's sports teams, a testament to his belief in the value of teamwork and perseverance. His love for his grandchildren was unparalleled, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Camping and traveling were among Terry's favorite activities, allowing him to explore and enjoy the great outdoors. These interests brought him closer to friends and family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Terry’s life was one of purpose, love, and laughter, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and the many lives he touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Terry's life will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK. His final resting place will be in the columbarium at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors, in recognition of his service to our nation.
