Thomas James "Jim" McDuffie, age 82, resident of Coweta, OK, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, May 1, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was born on June 2, 1942, in Baton Rouge, LA to Claude Allen and Nellie Mae (McDuffie) Foster. Jim's life was a testament to his unwavering spirit and the love he had for those around him.
Jim attended school at Crowville Schools in Crowville, LA, where he laid the foundation for a life of service and dedication. Jim proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of duty and honor that he carried with him always.
After his military service, Jim's passion for food and people led him to a career as a chef at Piccadilly Cafeteria. His culinary skills brought joy to many, but Jim's ambitions didn't stop there. He went on to work for Boyd Hunter Construction before finally owning and operating McDuffie Concrete for many years. His entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic were an inspiration to all who knew him.
In 1970, Jim married the love of his life, Linda Mae McManus, and together they built a life filled with adventure and love. Jim's passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for deer hunting, fishing, bow fishing, and rabbit hunting. He cherished the moments spent in nature, often accompanied by family and friends who shared in his enthusiasm. Jim's competitive spirit shone through in his love for playing slow pitch softball, a sport he enjoyed until the age of 40.
Jim's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Linda Mae McDuffie of Coweta, OK; his daughter, Tammy Emmons and husband Jimbo of Columbia, LA; his sons, Robert Wylie and wife Julie of Oakley, CA, J.J. McDuffie of Coweta, OK, and Joe McDuffie and wife Misty of Wagoner, OK; 10 grandchildren, Ashley Scarbrough, Ethan Emmons, Tyler Wylie, Robin Wylie, Joey Wylie, Dakota McDuffie, Chelsea Shelton, Ashlyn Shelton, Blakely McDuffie, and Baylor McDuffie; and 13 great-grandchildren. Jim also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will fondly remember his generous spirit.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Claude Allen and Nellie Mae Foster, and his infant son, Thomas James McDuffie, Jr., affectionately known as "Little Jimmy."
