Allen Lee Thornburg

Allen Lee Thornburg, age 82, longtime Broken Arrow resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, May 20, 2022 at Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Allen was born on December 1, 1939 in Wagoner, Oklahoma and was the son of Jack and Zelma (Crisp) Thornburg.  Allen attended Hulbert Schools and graduated from Hulbert High School.  He married the love of his life, Neallie Pearl Hooper on April 18, 1959 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Allen worked for Kaiser Aluminum as a Department Supervisor for 23 years until he retired.  He was an Auxiliary Police Officer with the Coweta Police Department for several years.  Allen was also a special education school bus driver for Union Public Schools and Broken Arrow Public Schools, building countless relationships with the children along the way.  He enjoyed riding horses, mowing and being outdoors, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Allen is survived by four children, Brenda Gale Baker of Arkansas, Jerry Duane Thornburg and his wife Debbie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Loretta Denise Gensert of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Scott Allen Thornburg of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one sister, Carol Sue Townsend of Hulbert, Oklahoma; one brother, Roger Thornburg and his wife Wanda of Coweta, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Neallie Pearl Thornburg; his parents, Jack and Zelma Thornburg; one son, Allen Lee Thornburg, Jr.; two brothers, JR Thornburg and David Thornburg; and four sisters, Allean Daniels, Maxine Rhodes, Pearline Rhodes, and Wanda Lou Gardner.

Visitation will be from 12:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Services celebrating Allen’s life will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma with Daniel Conditt officiating.  Allen will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
