Barbara Sue Brooks

Barbara Sue Brooks, age 71, resident of Broken Arrow went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, August 27, 2020 at Saint Francis Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Barbara was born on October 31, 1948 in Coweta, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Cecil Joseph and Corrinne (Parnell) Jenkins-Cook.

Barbara was raised in Broken Arrow and graduated from Broken Arrow High School.  She married the love of her life, Riley Gene Brooks on July 13, 1967 in Nowata, Oklahoma, and they were blessed with two children, Michael and Jennifer.  Barbara grew up in the First Christian and Fellowship Christian Church.  She was later baptized and became a member at Sunnyside Baptist Church in Broken Arrow.  Barbara worked at Dresser Rand, Neighborhood Newspaper, Zeeco, and retired in 2010 from Englobal Engineering as a Document Controller.  She was also a devoted homemaker who loved caring for her family.  Barbara enjoyed cooking, gardening, going to garage and estate sales, and she loved going to the Affair of the Heart twice per year.

Barbara is survived by her son, Mike Brooks and wife Gina of Wagoner, Oklahoma; two sisters, Donna Moon and husband Richard of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Patty Jenkins-Dougherty of Owasso, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Courtney Griffith and husband Ethan of Coweta, Oklahoma, Chance Brooks of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and Justin Travis Rotert of Wagoner, Oklahoma; two great granddaughters, Tylee Jo Griffith and Rylee Elizabeth Griffith; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Riley Gene Brooks; her parents, Cecil Joseph Jenkins and Corrinne Jenkins-Cook; and her daughter, Jennifer Corrinne Brooks-Fuller.

Viewing will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Brown Funeral Home.  Services celebrating Barbara’s life will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. Roland Whitehurst officiating.  Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
