Barbara Sue Chapman

Barbara Sue Chapman, age 79, resident of Coweta, OK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, April 9, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. She was born on February 28, 1945, in Fort Worth, TX and was the daughter of James C. Abernathy and Margaret Marie (Harley) Abernathy.

She was a proud graduate of Nathan Hale High School in Tulsa, OK. For 25 years, Barbara served the community with a smile as a cashier at Wal-Mart, where her friendly demeanor became a staple of many customers' shopping experiences.

She is survived by her devoted son, Terry Chapman and his wife Glenda of Coweta, OK; her loving daughter, Deborah Wetherington and her husband Phillip of Merritt Island, FL; her adored grandchildren, Ashley Barlow, Josh Chapman, and Jason Chapman; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Kyland, Kingsly, Khloe, Jayda, and Skyer.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Chapman, her parents, James C. Abernathy and Margaret Marie Abernathy, and her stepbrother, James Abernathy Jr.
