Barbara Jean Hathcoat

Barbara Jean Hathcoat, age 78, longtime Coweta resident went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, July 31, 2022 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Barbara was born on January 4, 1944 in Carroll County, Arkansas to Vernon Ray and Dorothy Mae (Morris) Smith.  She was a graduate of Union Public Schools in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Barbara married the love of her life, Wesley Gene Hathcoat on August 14, 1965 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She was a minister and song evangelist.  Barbara enjoyed singing, reading her Bible, and she loved spending time with her family.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Wesley Gene Hathcoat of the home in Coweta, Oklahoma; her daughter, Tammy Bohannon and husband Joe of Coweta, Oklahoma; her son, Chuck Hathcoat and wife Jennifer of Amarillo, Texas; her sisters, Ina Hall of Coweta, Oklahoma, Wanda Thornburg and husband Roger of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Kathy Daniels and husband Gary of Coweta, Oklahoma; her brothers, Jack Smith and wife Patsy of Overland Park, Kansas and Randy Smith and wife Jennifer of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Wes Grayson, Jackie Schmidt and husband Brandon, Jennifer Evans and husband Tom, Hunter Baker, William Bohannon, and Cameron Bohannon and wife Jamie; ten great grandchildren, Hunter Grayson, Jolene Grayson, Rosie Grayson, Grayson Schmidt, Wayne Bohannon, Jaelynn Evans, Cash Bohannon, Ezra Bohannon, Gillian Bohannon, and Georgia Leigh Bohannon; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Ray and Dorothy Mae Smith.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Services celebrating Barbara’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the Church of God Holiness in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. Jack Smith and Rev. Bill Smith officiating.  Barbara will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers are Joe Bohannon, William Bohannon, Randy Smith, Mike Murphy, Brian Daniels, and Tony Rose.  Honorary Pallbearers are Gary Daniels, Butch Hathcoat, Wes Grayson, and Hunter Baker.
