Billy "Bill" Blair Obituary

Billy Gene Blair, known affectionately as “Bill” to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home in Coweta, OK surrounded by his family, on Tuesday morning, March 12, 2024 at the age of 84 years. He was born on February 14, 1940, in Muskogee, OK to Willie M. and Mary Thelma (Blankenship) Blair. Bill's life was characterized by his unwavering dedication to his family, his hard work, and his playful spirit.

A proud 1959 graduate of Coweta High School, Bill's work ethic was evident in his long-standing career as a warehouse leadman at Braden Winch in Broken Arrow, OK, where he dedicated 38 years of service before retiring. His colleagues remember him as a man who led by example, with a warm smile and a knack for making even the most mundane tasks enjoyable.

On March 10, 1960, Bill married the love of his life, Doris Marie Hash, at Thomas Community Church in Broken Arrow, OK.

Bill's interests were as rich and varied as his personality. He had a passion for roping and could often be found watching his favorite westerns. He took great pleasure in bailing hay and was always ready for a good-natured tease, bringing laughter to those around him. Above all, Bill cherished the time spent with his family, creating memories that they will treasure forever.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Doris Blair, of the home in Coweta, OK; his sons, Mark Blair (Rhonda) of Boynton, OK, Tim Blair of Wagoner, OK, and Matt Blair (Aimee) of Coweta, OK; his grandchildren, Karen Herriman (Toby), Wes Blair (Tiffani), Josh Blair, Aubrey Blair, Mandy Blair, Mattrick Blair (Hunter), and Mason Blair; and his great-grandchildren, Darren Herriman, Kaylee Meiwes (Kade), Jo Dawn Herriman, Kenyen Scott, and Miles Blair. He also leaves behind his brother, David Blair of Coweta; his sister, Sandra Owens of Coweta; his brother-in-law, Arley Pete Hash (Barbara); his brother-in-law, Dennis Hash; his sister-in-law, Pam Smith (Mark); and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss his presence dearly.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Willie M. and Mary Thelma Blair, his brother, Larry Blair, and his sister, Linda Nail.
