Obituary

Billy Edward Sanders, known to friends and family as Bill, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, April 22, 2023, in Plano, Texas at the age of 76 years. He was born on January 24, 1947, in Coweta, Oklahoma to Coy Edward and Walsia Lee (Todd) Sanders. Bill was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Coy Edward and Walsia Lee Sanders, his brothers, Phillip Sanders and Johnny Sanders, and his great niece, Avery Henderson. He is survived by his sisters, Sharon Dodd and husband Everett of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Shirley Rice and husband Jerry of Florida, his brother, Jacky Sanders of Tulsa, Oklahoma, eight nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and nephews, special great-great-niece, Winter Emelia, his special Texas friends, James, Guy, and Tammy, and his special Oklahoma friends, Barbara Wolfe and Steve Hensley.

Growing up in Coweta, Bill began his education at Muddy Flats School for a short time before graduating from Coweta High School in 1965. After high school, Bill followed in his father's footsteps and began working in construction. He later transitioned to a career in retail, working as a support manager at Wal-Mart for 20 years. Bill's dedication to his work led him to various positions in San Antonio, Texas, at a craft store, and in Huntsville and Holiday Island, Arkansas, at grocery stores.

Residing in Sherman, Texas, Bill's interests extended far beyond his professional life. Throughout his life, Bill had a passion for writing country and western songs. He was proud to have written a song for Loretta Lynn and Toby Keith, showcasing his talent and love for music. Bill was proud to be invited to attend the Country Music Awards in October. In his free time, Bill enjoyed going to flea markets, and he loved Mexican food, even concocting his own salsa recipe that he called Basco picante sauce. Bill's love for animals was evident in the special bond he shared with his dog, Arley.
