Carolyn Sue Peterson

Carolyn Sue Peterson, age 78, resident of Broken Arrow departed this life on Friday morning, January 29, 2021 at her home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma surrounded by her family.  Carolyn was born on June 24, 1942 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Herbert and Violet Hazel (Townsley) Poplin. Carolyn attended school in Broken Arrow and graduated from Broken Arrow High School.  She married the love of her life, Perry Joe Peterson on December 30, 1960 at Shahan Free Will Baptist Church in Coweta.  Together they were blessed with two daughters, Kelli and Leslea.  Carolyn worked at the First National Bank in Tulsa and the City of Broken Arrow in the billing and payroll department.  She was a faithful member of the Shahan Free Will Baptist Church in Coweta.  She enjoyed reading, baking, and making lap throw blankets and Thanksgiving baskets. Carolyn was very giving to everyone around her. She loved making the grandkids clothes and costumes when they were younger. She will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved her.

Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Kelli Hutchins and husband Kevin of Coweta, Oklahoma and Leslea Harrison and husband Jim Bob of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Kandice Brians, Kendahl Asberry and husband Drae, Kalynn Rush and husband Jon, and Ethan Harrison and wife Lauren; seven great grandchildren, Edin Asberry, Aliya Rush, Lorelei Rush, DiAndrae Asberry II, Elliott Harrison, Liam Harrison, and Brixton Joe-Dee Brians; one sister, Sharon Parnell of Bixby, Oklahoma; three brothers-in-law, Robert Peterson and wife Jackie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jerry Peterson and wife Kathy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Lee Peterson and wife Carolyn of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Perry Joe Peterson; her parents, Herbert and Violet Poplin; one sister, Phyllis Crouse; niece, Kathy Aulton; and nephew, Shawn Peterson.

Viewing will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home.  There will be a private family service held for Carolyn.
