Deborah Sue Abel

Deborah Sue Abel, also known as “Debbie”, longtime Coweta resident was born on March 23, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Melvin Henry and Esther Deloris (Lay) Medlin.  Debbie passed away on Friday morning, March 25, 2022 at her home in Coweta, Oklahoma at the age of 69.  She married the love of her life, Franklin Wayne Abel on April 1, 1971 in Miami, Oklahoma.  Debbie was a licensed practical nurse for many years.  She also worked at Wal-Mart in the bakery for a couple of years.  Debbie enjoyed cooking and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids.

Debbie is survived by her daughter, Misty Nail; her son, Steven Abel; her grandchildren, Collin Nail, Colton Nail and his wife Cori, Destiny Wilson and her husband Boone, Dillon McCaleb, Dakota McCaleb, Tyler Abel, Baleigh Abel, Dalton Abel, and Zack Abel; her great grandchildren, Cooper Wilson, Violet Wilson, Boyd Wilson, Millie McCaleb, Franklin Abel, Pasleigh Gordon, Ryker Gordon, Emaleigh Hager, and Hunter Hager; two sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Debbie was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Wayne Abel, her mother and step-father, Deloris and Elmo Whitehead, her father, Melvin Medlin, her daughter, Angela McCaleb, and her sister, Donna Schmidt.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  A private family burial will be at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
