Obituary

Donald “Don” M. McManus, Sr., also known as “Road Runner”, resident of Coweta, Oklahoma entered into the Gates of Heaven on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at his home in Coweta, Oklahoma surrounded by his family at the age of 76 years.  Don was born on July 3, 1946 in Bixby, Oklahoma to Claude Estes and Caroline Clara (Sheeley) McManus.  He was a 1964 graduate of Bixby High School.  Don was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from February 1, 1966 to July 13, 1968.  He married the love of his life, Diana Sue McClendon on May 28, 1970 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Don owned and operated D&D Construction for many years and was also a truck driver.  He was a member of Stroud First Assembly of God in Stroud, Oklahoma.  Don enjoyed reading, baking, hunting, fishing, camping, and watching westerns.  He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Don loved to help anyone that he came across, impacting everyone that knew him.

Don is survived by his children, Trisha Easley Glass of Coweta, Oklahoma, Don McManus (Mandy) of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Caroline Martin (Rusty) of Coweta, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Matt Glass (Lezlie), Kyle Glass, Bailey Meadows (Braden), Seth McManus (Lexi Bach), Rusty Martin, Jr. (Cheyenne Haner), Jake McManus (Carlee Stanbery), Tyler McManus, and Kristabella Martin; three great grandchildren, Jake Mosley, Tavery Glass, and Sawyer Meadows; his sisters, Linda McDuffy (Jim) of Coweta, Oklahoma, Carolyn Jones (Willie) of Liberty, Oklahoma, and Diana Harris (David) of Coweta, Oklahoma; his sister-in-law, Ruth Burress of Coweta, Oklahoma; his brothers-in-law, Bill Birchfield of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Lynn Moss of Coweta, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Sue McManus, his parents, Claude Estes and Caroline Clara McManus, his grandson, Aaron Easley, his brother, Claude McManus, his sisters, Ruby Birchfield and Wanda Moss, his brother-in-law, Lawrence McClendon, his sisters-in-law, Margie Cody and Mary McClendon, his nephew, WD Cody, and his niece, Christi Moss.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  Services celebrating Don’s life will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at CrossPoint Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. Jeroyme Jackson officiating and Rev. Willie Jones assisting.  Don will be laid to rest next to his wife, Diana at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma with military honors being rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Glass, Kyle Glass, Seth McManus, Rusty Martin, Jr., Jake McManus, Tyler McManus, and Braden Meadows.  Honorary Pallbearer will be Sawyer Meadows.

The family would like to especially thank Millenium Home Health and Hospice and nurse aide, Leeann Danderson for the excellent care of their father.
