Doyce Plunk Obituary

Doyce Blaine Plunk, age 60, resident of Broken Arrow passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born on May 10, 1963, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Ira B. and Betty J. (Murdock) Plunk.

A proud graduate of Coweta High School in 1981, Doyce furthered his education at Oklahoma State University. He was a master of his craft, working as a brick mason and owning both Flintstone Masonry and Doyce Plunk Masonry. His work, much like his character, was solid, reliable, and stood the test of time.

Doyce's zest for life was evident in his numerous interests. He was an avid fisherman, finding solace and excitement in the quiet streams and the rush of the catch. His love for the outdoors extended to camping and road trips, with a special fondness for visiting Branson. Wrestling matches, whether on TV or at local events, were a source of great entertainment for him. Christmas was a special time of year as he enjoyed dressing up and playing Santa. However, nothing compared to the joy he felt while attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. The pride in his eyes was unmistakable as he watched them play, cheering them on with all his heart.

Family was the cornerstone of Doyce's life. He is survived by his son, Blaine Plunk, and daughter-in-law, Brittanie, of Bixby, Oklahoma; his adored grandchildren, Kaden (age 14), Paisley (age 8), Presley (age 6), and Prairie Rose (age 2); his life partner, Mary Lee Plunk of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma;  and his siblings, Freda Pratt of Glenpool, OK, Cleon Plunk and wife Sarah of Coweta, OK, Sam Plunk and wife Janda of Porter, OK, Eddie Plunk and wife Patti of Coweta, OK, and Dottie Jones and husband Allan of Broken Arrow, OK. His life was enriched by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will miss his guidance and humor.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ira B. and Betty J. Plunk, his sister, Rebecca Britton, and his grandparents.

Doyce lived a life full of passion, hard work, and laughter. His legacy is not only in the structures he built, but in the hearts he touched and the family he so deeply loved. As we say goodbye, we also say thank you—for the lessons taught, the love shared, and the memories that will forever be etched in our hearts.
