Edith Matilda Johnson

Edith Matilda Johnson, age 91, resident of Broken Arrow departed this life on Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Broken Arrow Nursing Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  Edith was born on April 8, 1930 in Red Bench, Arkansas and was the daughter of Earnest Homer and Vertie Nancy Elizabeth (Case) Wootten.  She was a beautician at a young age.  Edith was married twice and was very proud to have raised six children.  She worked as the lead lunch cook at the Celebrity Club in Tulsa.  She went on to own and operate the Stake Out Restaurant in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma.  Edith enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, sewing, quilting, painting, gardening, and winning at the casinos.

Edith is survived by her children, Sheila Stevens of Hobart, Oklahoma, Darlene Tatum and her husband Stan of Enid, Oklahoma, Anita Williams and her husband Lyle of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Bruce Stevens and his wife Dana of Arcadia, Oklahoma, and Jon Johnson and his wife Laurie of Pilot Point, Texas; her sister, Ruby Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest Homer Wootten and Vertie Nancy Elizabeth Wootten, her husbands, Bill Stevens and Merlyn Johnson, her son, Bill Stevens, five brothers and sisters, and her grandson, Clint.

A memorial service celebrating Edith’s life will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with Chaplain Robert Hancock officiating.  The family request in lieu of flowers please send donations to Moore Cemetery Account, First National Bank at Paris, 11 E.
