Elizabeth "Joanne" Saucier

Elizabeth “Joanne” Saucier, age 79, resident of Broken Arrow, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, March 04, 2024, at her home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was born on March 14, 1944, in Meridian, Mississippi to Minnie Ellen Crane Thomas and Grady Thomas. Joanne's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joyful moments that touched the hearts of everyone she knew.

She blazed numerous trails in her time on this earth. Joanne started out teaching dancing as one of her first jobs. She worked herself into one of the first female roles of an executive in the banking industry. She was a volunteer with the Special Olympics from the beginning and continued by working in volunteer positions throughout her loving life. Her love of God brought her to Oklahoma from Mississippi where she attended Rhema Bible College. She was a very active volunteer within Broken Arrow Schools, A New Leaf and numerous Church groups. 

Joanne's indomitable strength – as a person, a woman, a friend – was always grounded in her faith in God, and inspired her, not to judge others but to guide herself, with purpose and determination.  Life's challenges never broke her, and its blessings never corrupted her.

There is no easy way to say goodbye to a beloved parent and friend – our comfort is knowing that now Joanne is at peace and on the threshold of the heavenly reward promised her.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents Grady Thomas and Ellen Miller, her sister Mary Sylvest, and daughter Elizabeth Saucier.

Joanne is lovingly remembered by her children Steven Saucier, Stacy and Michael Lay. Her grandchildren, Jordan Lay, Dillon and Nicole Lay along with her two great grandchildren. Her sisters Evelyne Mickael, Linda Hughes and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private celebration of life.
