Elves Dwain Sanders

Elves Dwain Sanders, age 82, lifelong Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening, June 28, 2022 at his home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Dwain was born on September 27, 1939 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Chasel Jewel “Pete” and Gladys Marie (Gill) Sanders.  He attended Prairie Glade School and Coweta Schools and was a 1957 graduate of Coweta High School.  Dwain married the love of his life Patricia “Pat” M. Reeves on December 31, 1960.  He worked as a welder and supervisor at Knight Industries / Dresser-Rand for many years until he retired.  Dwain enjoyed riding horses, fishing, hunting, gardening, and watching the grandkids play sports.  He loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed having the family over every Thursday night to eat Roy’s Chicken.

Dwain is survived by four children, Gary Sanders and his wife Sharnell of Coweta, Oklahoma, Vickie Middleton and her husband Joey of Coweta, Oklahoma, Bubba Sanders and his fiancé Lisa of Haskell, Oklahoma, and Lea Ann Brown and her husband Matt of Coweta, Oklahoma; one sister, Loretta Rundell of Nevada, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jessica Schell and her husband George, Samantha Van Tuyl and her husband Rodney, David Bigger and his wife Chasity, Ricky Bigger and his wife Aubrey, Keith Obney and his wife Nicole, Lori Berry and her husband Keith, and AJ Brown and his wife Lindsay; three step grandchildren, Scott Christy and his wife Rebecca, Shannon Lucas and her husband Chad, and Kourtney Middleton; eighteen great grandchildren, Allison, Aiden, Oliver, Grayson, Bear, Baylor, Cydnee, Skylar, Ryder, Ethan, Brea, Colt, Kyler, Sterling, Jaycee Kate, Adeline, Andrew, and Abigail; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Dwain was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Pat” M. Sanders, his parents, Chasel Jewel “Pete” and Gladys Marie Sanders, his son, Mike Sanders, and his sister, Arzella Buchanan.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Graveside services celebrating Dwain’s life will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Shahan Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
