Gary Dwain Snelson

Gary Dwain Snelson, age 74, lifelong Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Gary was born on June 23, 1946 in Coweta, Oklahoma and was the son of George Oliver and Thelma Faye (Sanders) Snelson.  Gary was raised in Coweta and attended Coweta Public Schools.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.  Gary married the love of his life, Cathy Lynn Harvel on December 17, 1981.  He was a barber and owned Gary’s Barber Shop for 34 years until he retired in 2001.  Gary enjoyed team roping, fishing, trading cars, and spending time with his family and friends.  He was a jokester who lived life to the fullest, and he loved to make people laugh by telling jokes.

Gary is survived by his wife, Cathy Snelson of the home in Coweta, Oklahoma; two brothers, James Snelson and wife Kay of Tulsa, Oklahoma and John Snelson and wife Carmen of Coweta, Oklahoma; one sister, Necie Rainbolt and husband Bryan of Coweta, Oklahoma; his stepmother, Wanda Manasco of Coweta, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews, Lisa and Billy Medford, Ashley Snelson, Johnny and Tera Snelson, Brandon and Athena Rainbolt, Crystal and Adam Abel, Brittany and Robert Dalton, and Chad and Sarah Rainbolt; and numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, George Oliver Snelson and Thelma Faye Sharp; and one brother, Billy Kaiser.

Visitation will be from 12:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  Services celebrating Gary’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. Ed Rutherford officiating.  Gary will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma

Pallbearers are Robert Dalton, Brandon Rainbolt, Chad Rainbolt, Adam Abel, Mike Fulton, and Herbert Sarty.  Honorary Pallbearers are Harlin Sanders, Ketih Rampey, Benny Parkerson, Jim Mizell, Homer Sarty, and Ronnie Carr.
