Gerald Lee Buckner

Gerald Lee Buckner, age 87, resident of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma departed this life on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Gerald was born on May 24, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio to Everett Carl and Frances Marie (Camp) Buckner.   He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.  Gerald married the love of his life, Erma Fostine Miller on October 16, 1971 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He pursued the lease and land management field of employment for most of his working career, although he retired from The Trust Company of Oklahoma in 1999 after thirteen years as Vice President.  Gerald received an honorable discharge in the Marine Corps as a Sergeant in the military legal department during the Korean Occupation.  He would probably consider his part in the Perfect Peace Gospel Quartet and the Villagers Singing Group as his greatest joy and contribution to the community.  Gerald was a member of Florence Street Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  He loved to sing and never passed up an opportunity to sing at church or other functions.  Gerald enjoyed fishing, singing, and gardening. 

Gerald is survived by his wife of 49 years, Fostine Buckner of the home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his daughter, Lisa Kay Buckner of Ashville, North Carolina; his stepson, Carl Wayne Fields and his wife Jana of Wills Point, Texas; two brothers, Bob Buckner of Salt Lake City, Utah and Carl Everett Buckner, Jr. of Covina, California; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Frances Buckner, two sisters, and one stepson.

Services celebrating Gerald’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. Dwight West officiating.  He will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
