Jackie "Jack" Smith Obituary

Jackie Irvin Smith, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather. Jack’s journey on this earth came to an end on Thursday, October 26, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, joy, and love.

Jackie was born on June 8, 1952, to Dave and Gussie Smith and from a young age, he possessed a remarkable sense of humor. He had a unique talent for making people laugh and was known for his quick wit and playful remarks. He had a way of brightening even the darkest moments with his lighthearted spirit.

Jackie’s greatest joy in life was his family. He shared over 50 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Deborah Ann Smith. Their love was a shining example to all who knew them, an unbreakable bond that stood the test of time. Together, they created a loving home and raised four incredible children, Tracy & Bryant Shipp, Jason & Jenny Smith, Kevin & Danielle Smith, and Justin Smith. Jack’s dedication to his family knew no bounds, and he was always there to provide support, guidance, and a shoulder to lean on.

As a grandfather, Jackie’s heart overflowed with love. He adored his grandchildren, Jasmine Smith, Dynnah Vanalestine, Brytanne Shipp, Brandy Shipp, Jaden Smith, Tyson Smith, Julius Smith, Tayshawn Wade, Arianna Wade, and Elijah Minton. And his three great-grandchildren, Jaxtyn Smith, Brynlee Shipp, and Segan Smith, who always held a special place in his heart. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love. His legacy will continue to live on through the generations he inspired with his kindness and humor.

Jackie also leaves behind his siblings, Roscoe & Mary Smith, Rozell & Clanene Lucky, Herman Smith, Linda & Charles Drake, and Delma Smith, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave & Gussie Smith, and his siblings, Robert & Bernadine Jackson, Raymond Mayberry, David & Jenny Smith, George Smith, James E. Smith, and Eudell Smith.

Beyond his role as a loving family man, Jack proudly served our country as an Army veteran. His bravery, dedication, and sacrifice will always be an example to follow. He exemplified the true meaning of patriotism and honor, and we will forever be grateful for his service.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, let us remember Jackie Smith for the incredible person he was. Let us honor his memory by carrying on his legacy of laughter, love, and kindness. Jack’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. It was truly an honor to have him as a father and his presence will truly be missed.
