John Schoonover, Jr. Obituary

John P. Schoonover, Jr., age 89, was a resident of Sweetwater, Texas before recently moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma under the care of his daughter.  He was born on January 31, 1931 in Giddings, Texas and was the son of John P. and Minnie (Byrne) Schoonover.  He passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by his family.  John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.  John married the love of his life, Gail White on July 2, 1979 in Miami, Oklahoma.  He was a Facility Supervisor for Baker Hughes Company.  John enjoyed working on cars, racing horses and greyhounds, and he loved spending time with his family. 

John is survived by his daughter, Judy Williams and her husband Steve; his son, Jimmy Schoonover of Sweetwater, Texas; his step-son, David Sorenson and his wife Pamela of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; Cole, Connor, and Kyle Williams; one great grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one sister.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 25, 2021 at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
