John Wesley "JW" Bowers

John Wesley Bowers, known to most as “JW” or “Pug”, age 78, resident of Coweta, Oklahoma departed from this life on Monday, January, 3, 2022 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  JW was born on May 25, 1943 in Hulbert, Oklahoma to John Wesley and Gladys Irene (Mannon) Bowers.  He attended school in Coweta and was a welder for GC Roach.  He married Jean Bowers on August 23, 1965 in Coweta, Oklahoma, even though the marriage ended they remained best friends for over 55 years.  JW loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He enjoyed horses, cows, and watching westerns on television.

JW is survived by his three sons, Richard Bowers and his wife Valerie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Donald Bowers of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Brian Bowers and his companion Tammy Lott of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Bowers of Coweta, Oklahoma and Jack Bowers; one sister, Mary Lou Billings of Florida; his best friend, Jean Bowers of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. 

JW was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Gladys Irene Bowers, several siblings, and two grandchildren. 

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Services celebrating JW’s life will at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma with Bob Neal Officiating.  JW will be laid to rest at Shahan Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
